Extremely happy July 23, 2010 Ashley Cochran (Stillwater, MN) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had previously owned the SX10IS and when I saw they came out with a newer version I had to have it. I'm not a professional or even an amateur photographer; I simply take a lot of pictures of my family and I wanted a camera that was easy to use and would do the work for me so that my pictures turned out great. That is how I ended up with the SX 10IS as it did exactly this. The biggest improvement in this camera in my opinion is that it now automatically adjusts from face recognition to object recognition. So when I'm trying to get a picture of my baby's toes I don't have to manually adjust it, it does it for me now! I'm so pleased that I decided to make the investment to upgrade, it really is a great camera!

I am very pleased with my camera. It is easy to use and very portable. The only thing is that I wish the manual told you more about the settings but the manual that you can download on to your computer tells you more.
Amazing Video Quality!! July 22, 2010 Tanzy 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am very thrilled with this camera! I was torn between buying an individual video camera or a digital/video combination. My friend had the older version of this camera and suggested it and I am so glad she did. I am amazed by the quality of the video that it takes even in low light conditions. On my old camera the video would be so dark you could not see anything. If you are interested in a digital camera that takes great stills AND amazing video then I highly recommend this camera. The only drawback is if you are wanting to film long videos. I believe the maximum is about 25 minutes of record time. Personally I like making shorter vids anyway so 25 minutes is more than enough to meet my needs. I was also very pleased by how easy this camera is to use. Bottom line: I LOVE this camera and can't wait to take more pictures and video!
I'm not so happy with mine July 22, 2010 Old! Florida Cracker (Central Fla) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've had mine a couple months now, and I don't like it. Let me say first - the ONLY thing I don't like about it is the quality of pictures it produces: They're just not sharp. I can't say if it's the lens or sensor noise, but they're not sharp. I've tried every setting available, fast shutter, low ISO, mid-range aperture, flash ... I can't get a sharp, enlargeable picture out of it. Even 8x10s aren't sharp.
Color reproduction is awesome: bright and saturated, but just not sharp.
I AM a professional photographer - a variety of newspapers since 1974 - and carry around a sack of Canon DSLRs. I was carrying a Kodak Z1275 in my pocket for that rare moment when I didn't have an SLR hanging off my shoulder, but it eats batteries. It's razor sharp, but it's very serious about its AA batteries ...
And the SX20IS is absolutely silent - vital for some situations such as courtrooms.
I wanted the articulating screen and I'm a Canon lover so I bought, after looking at several others with similar features, the SX 20IS. I wish I'd bought it from Amazon, I would have returned it right away. I bought it at my local camera store, but ... His no-return policy has left me with a camera I really don't like.
I've shot lots of stuff for my newspaper with it - its quality is good enough for the paper - but I can't print, frame and hang anything out of this camera, and I have a bunch of stuff hanging in our local library and city hall shot with the Kodak Z1275 - and have won several ribbons with some of those shots.
I thought maybe I'd gotten a lemon but a friend bought one (I didn't know she was looking for a camera, and she bought hers where I bought mine) and hers is similarly not-sharp. She's not as picky as I am, though, and I didn't say anything to her about it because I know she can't return it - She's happy enough.
